Remembrance Day

We stood still for two minute at 11am on the 11th of November.
It is important for us to remember the soldiers who fought and died for us.

We were very lucky to have some guest from the British Legion, Eric Vickers read the salutation, his colleague played the Last Post on the trumpet.

Oak Class teacher Mr Millin played the bagpipes, see oakclass99.blogspot.co.uk to hear it.

Pets at Home

On Friday we went to Pets at Home.
We went to find out about guinea pigs.

We met Ross, he told us how to keep the guinea pigs healthy

We learned how to hold guinea pigs.

It liked Tommy's coat.

We also looked at a chinchilla.

We looked at hamsters, they were soft.

Hopefully soon we'll get some guinea pigs.

Phonics lesson with parents

Our parents came to school today to find out how we  learn our phonics.

We made letter shapes in sand.

Writing on whiteboards is one way we learn our sounds.

"I'm doing numbers."

We trace over numbers to help us get them right.

My mum looks very interested, she is concentrating well!

Sorry we couldn't put everyone's on the blog.

Practical Maths

In class today we were designing a guinea pig run.

Sea life trip

Tuesday 12th July Acorn class visited the sea life centre in Great Yarmouth.

The penguins are losing their feathers, this usually happens around this time. The Penguins will grow their feathers back and will have a new nice clean coat.

We got to touch a starfish.
Amazing fact number 1: Starfish have 1000 legs.
Amazing fact number 2: If a starfishes arm gets chopped off;
1. It will grow back
2. A whole new starfish will grow from that arm

We saw some Ray fish!

And a crocodile...

We loved the colour of this jellyfish (it was just the coloured light shining on it, but it looked good).

The ray fish came to say hello.

The baby rays are so cute.

We walked in a tunnel that was underwater. The Sharks and fish swam over top of us as we walked.

We could go behind the tank which made it look like we were in the tank with the fishes.

We had such an amazing time at Sealife Great Yarmouth. We even got a certificate which includes a voucher to come back again for free!
